It was exciting to be awarded a top rated nonprofit designation from the organization Great NonProfits.
It’s hard to believe it has been 15 years and we are thrilled to receive this designation!

As the temperatures start to drop, my mind wanders to Uganda and the Mbiriizi School where it is 60-80 degrees every day!  And, I realize it is time to start planning the summer trip.  The dates have been set for June 14-26, and if you live in the metro New York area the cost is $3,650 which covers the airfare, lodging, food, car and driver, VISA and a three-day safari.  If you are outside of this area and have to fly in to leave with us, it is an additional $700-900 depending on when and where you will be flying from to get here.

I need to know by February 15, 2018 if you are going.  This will allow me to get good airfare rates and to get your VISA.  It is a WONDERFUL trip and will leave you with joyous memories the rest of your life.

Once you go, you ALWAYS want to return.

In addition, it’s still time to make your Christmas donation if you haven’t had a chance to do so.   The above picture was shot at last year’s Christmas celebration.  So many of these children never receive Christmas gifts EXCEPT from us … every girl gets a new dress and every boy a new shirt, as well as a goody bag with candy, sunglasses, mardi gras beads, crayons and stickers.  Whatever you can donate would be greatly appreciated!

We have had five of our orphans graduate a couple of years ago and we have another 13 graduating this month.  We have 16 orphans who have graduated from P-7 who will be going on to St. Bernard’s.  We will know in January how many of our students will graduate from S-4 and/or S-6 and where they want to go to college or technical school.  It’s so exciting to see these children succeed!  And, it’s all thanks to all of you.

If any of you belong to a Rotary Club, Sylvia’s Children has been accepted as an charity that will be supported by Rotary International.  I have had the opportunity to speak to a number of Rotaries and they have all been enthusiastic about supporting us.  If you are a member of a Rotary and want me to speak, I greatly welcome the opportunity.

If you need to make a donation of stock we have a Sylvia’s Children brokerage account.

The goal is to begin an annuity that will be sustaining.

Thanks to all of you for your support and love.

Have a great Christmas or Hannukah or Kwanzaa (whatever you celebrate!) and a

wonderful, peaceful New Year.
